Custom Printed Satin Scarves

A printed satin scarf, often called a silk scarf, is dye-sublimated onto polyester satin, so it can reproduce anything: photos, gradients and complex logos. There is no limit on colours, and the front and back can be different.

Strengths

  • No colour limit: photos, gradients and complex logos
  • A bright, glossy silk-style finish
  • A different front and back
  • Great value, especially in larger quantities

Good to know

  • Not very warm: best for spring, summer or indoor sport
  • Less “authentic” than a knitted scarf for terrace purists

How does dye sublimation work?

The design is printed onto transfer paper and then heat-pressed against the satin. The heat turns the ink into a gas that bonds with the polyester fibres. Nothing sits on the surface, so the print cannot crack or peel and it stands up to washing.

It is the only technique that can reproduce a photo or a gradient. It is also the one to choose if your brand guidelines use more than 8 colours.

Satin or silk scarves?

On the terraces, printed satin scarves are often called “silk scarves” because of their smooth sheen. They are made from polyester satin rather than real silk, which makes them tougher, washable and far more affordable in quantity. The look is the same: a bold, glossy scarf that photographs brilliantly.

When to choose a printed satin scarf

  • Leavers and graduation: a year-group scarf with the school name and the year (see school and university scarves).
  • Cup runs and big matches: a commemorative scarf with both team names, the date and the venue (see event scarves).
  • Indoor sport: netball, basketball or volleyball, where you do not need the warmth of a knit (see sports club scarves).
  • Charity events and festivals: a colourful scarf to sell or hand out in large numbers.

Guide

Our advice

  • Jacquard vs woven

Knitted jacquard is thick, warm and the classic terrace scarf; HD woven is thin, very sharp and can carry a different design on each side. HD jacquard and printed satin sit in between, for detailed crests and photo artwork.

  • Washing your scarf

Wash your football scarf at 30°C on a delicate cycle, or by hand, then dry it flat and keep it out of the tumble dryer. The details depend on whether it is knitted acrylic (jacquard) or woven polyester (woven or satin).

  • Wedding scarves

Personalised wedding scarves can be ordered from 50 pieces, with your names and date: satin for colour and photos, HD woven for elegance, jacquard for a winter wedding. Allow at least two months between ordering and the big day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you print a photo on a scarf?

Yes, on printed satin only. Send us a high-resolution image; our designer checks how it will look and includes it on your free proof.

Will the print survive washing?

Yes. Sublimation ink becomes part of the fibre, so there is no surface layer to crack. We recommend washing at 30°C.

Is a satin scarf warm?

Not especially: it is a light scarf. For a winter terrace scarf, knitted jacquard is the better choice.

Are your silk scarves made of real silk?

No. Like most football “silk” scarves, they are made of polyester satin, which gives the same sheen but is stronger, washable and much more affordable.
